Joseph Frank4 Erner (FRANK3, JOSEPH2), born 29 July 1888 (but gravestone says 1887(5) and WWI draft registration says 1889(8)  ) at East Dubuque, Jo Daviess, Illinois;  died 07 June 1943(5) at East Dubuque (Death Certificate #000100);  married first 04 February 1913 at Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa to Genevieve Letcher (daughter of John Letcher and Mary Fitzgerald) who was born 29 June 1893 and died 14 August 1984 at West Bend, Washington, Wisconsin, divorced 1920;  married second 27 November 1920 at Dubuque to Lorraine Josephine Wessels (daughter of Bernard Wessels and Elizabeth Schaetzle) who was born 05 April (or 04 May(6)(7)) 1901 at New Vienna, Dubuque, Iowa and died 04 December 1993(5) at Redondo Beach, Los Angeles, California(6)(7).

He was a woodworker. He was a World War I veteran(5). He worked for Farley & Loetscher Manufacturing Company at Dubuque; later he worked for the Savanna Ordnance Depot in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. He registered for the WWI Draft at East Dubuque [apparently while home sick], (registration card).

Frank and Lorraine are buried at the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Children with first wife:

Delores M.5 Erner, born 27 October 1915 at East Dubuque;  died 08 February 1982 at Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin;  married first about 1934 to Casper Meisenburg. They had ten children. 1920 Census: Delores Erner (with grandmother Mary “Litscher”), page 090, visit 002/003, Dubuque (2nd Ward), Dubuque, Iowa.

Edward Lee5 Erner, born 03 June 1920 at Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin;  married 18 August 1942 at Milwaukee to Lucille Mildred Kramer (daughter of Albert Kramer and Susan Henk) who was born 22 August 1921 at Milwaukee. They had two children.

Children with second wife, born at East Dubuque:

Merla Jean5 Erner, born 18 December 1928;  married 19 August 1947 at Vista, San Diego, California to Albert V. Wilson (son of Vance S. Wilson and Angeline V. Snyder) who was born 27 July 1921(6) at Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska and died 30 July 1985 at Torrance, Los Angeles, California(6). They had two children.

(Captain) Eugene Joseph5 Erner, born 28 June 1932;  married 26 July 1952 at Raymond, Pacific, Washington to Geraldine Ruth Dalbeck (daughter of Walter Theodore Dalbeck and Hazel Beatrice Spray) who was born 21 December 1932 at Wakefield, Gogebic, Michigan. He served 31 years in the U.S. Navy; including combat tours during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He commanded three destroyers and a shore command. They had four children.
