Peter Paar (son of Gerhard Paar and Anna Gertrud Töller), born 18 October 1804 at Nettesheim (Rommerskirchen), Rheinland, Germany;  died 30 May 1877(5) at Galena, Jo Daviess, Illinois, USA;  married 07 January 1832 at Rommerskirchen (Civil Records) to Mary Margaret Kaul (daughter of Peter Kaul and Elizabetha Dücker) who was born 1806 at Gill (Rommerskirchen) and died 10 November 1864(5) at Galena.

He was a tailor. They came to the U.S. on the ship Josephine which sailed from Antwerp and arrived at New York City on 29 May 1858.

They are buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Section 5, lot 19) at Galena.

Gerhard Paar, born 01 June 1833;  died 29 July 1902(5) at Galena, Jo Daviess, Illinois;  married 26 May 1860 at Galena (Book B, page 282) to Katarina Fischer who was born 29 October 1838(5) in Prussia and died 08 April 1902(5) at Galena. He was a tailor; he came to the U.S. with his parents. He was naturalized on 05 June 1871 in Jo Daviess County Circuit Court. They are buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery at Galena (from cemetery records; no gravestone found). Peter Joseph Paar, born 17 November 1834;  died 14 May 1884 at Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa;  married 20 August 1859 in Jo Daviess County (Book B, page 243) to Mary Denberg (daughter of ______ Denberg and Ann ______) who was born about 1837 in Germany. He was a tailor. He was naturalized on 01 June 1868 in Jo Daviess County Circuit Court. Herman Paar, born 08 March 1839 at Eckum (Rommerskirchen);  died 07 June 1909(5) at Galena;  married 12 May 1865 in Jo Daviess County (Book B, page 489) to Sarah Townsend who was born 14 September 1846(5) at Stockton, Jo Daviess, Illinois and died 11 January 1942(5) at Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa. He was a blacksmith. He was naturalized on 17 March 1866 in Jo Daviess County Circuit Court. 1870 Census: Herman Parr, page 182, visit 1004/1071, Galena city, Jo Daviess, Illinois. They are buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Section 6, lot 24) at Galena. Anna Mary Paar, born 11 September 1845;  married 07 February 1878 in Jo Daviess County (Book E, page 143) to Henry Nellis who was born about 1853 in Germany. 1880 Census: Henry Nelles, page 299, visit 376/392, Galena (5th Ward), Jo Daviess, Illinois. 1910 Census: Henry Nellis, page 255, visit 140/150, Galena (4th Ward), Jo Daviess, Illinois. They had no children.

Jacob Hubert Paar, born 10 January 1837 at Rommerskirchen, Rheinland, Germany;  died 1886 at Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa, USA;  married 20 April 1861 in Jo Daviess County, Illinois (Book B, page 325) to ELIZABETH MOLITOR who was born 24 November 1842 probably at Wildewiese, Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia, Germany and died 28 November 1920 at Dubuque.

He was a tailor; they lived on Franklin Street in Galena. They moved to Dubuque in 1881-82, where they lived at 2060 White Street. After Jacob died, Elizabeth and the family lived at various residences in Dubuque: 2071 Couler (now named Central) Avenue, 2368 Couler Avenue, 10 Arch Street, 70 Grandview Avenue (from Dubuque City Directories).

Paar, born 1863;  died about 1897-99 probably at Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota;  married first 09 June 1885 at Dubuque (Book 5, page 068) to Mary Catherine Erner;  married second 04 February 1890 at Dubuque (Book 5, page 209) to Mary M. Pfiffner (daughter of Anton and Anna Pfiffner) who was born April 1870 at Dubuque and died 20 November 1932 in Hennepin County (Death Certificate #1932-021823). He was a tailor, he worked for Joseph Kabat at Dubuque. Leroy H. Paar, born about July 1893 at Dubuque. [NOTES: Not found in the 1920 or 1930 censuses. There is a Roy Paar who died 25 December 1913 in Hennepin County (Death Certificate #1913-020470), but there isn’t enough information in the Minnesota Death Index to know if it’s the same one.]

Herman Edward Paar, born 04 April 1873(8);  died 10 June 1945;  married first 1893-94 at Dubuque to Amanda ______ who was born about June 1873 in Wisconsin;  married second by 1920 to Fern ______ (her second marriage) who was born about 1890 in Iowa. Henry Joseph Anthony Paar, born 06 January 1879(8);  married 1905-06 to Clara A. _______ who was born about 1879 in Illinois. He was a printer; later he worked for a railroad, then for a lumber company. 1910 Census: Henry J. A. Paar, page 049, visit 091/095, Omaha (E.D. 81), Douglas, Nebraska. 1920 Census: Henry Paar, page 166, visit 134/137, Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa. 1930 Census: Henry Paar, page 030, visit 192/209, Davenport (2nd Ward), Scott, Iowa. They were living at Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois in 1933. Known children, most born in Nebraska:  Genevieve Paar, born about 1906;  Helen D.
