[She was the daughter of Johann Gerhard Lueggering, who was born about 1802 in Hannover, Germany and died 27 September 1877 at Quincy, and Helena Holtman who was born about 1804 in Hannover and died after the 1870 census at Quincy. Gerhard was an undertaker. Christina came to the U.S. alone in 1856; her parents followed two years later.]
He came to the U.S. on the ship Edmund which sailed from Bremen and arrived at Baltimore on 29 June 1857 [NOTE: A John Winking came on the same ship]. He was a cooper; later he worked as a brick maker at Stroot Brothers. They lived at 1135 North Tenth Street in Quincy. They were members of St. John Catholic Church at Quincy. They are buried in St. Mark Section of Calvary Cemetery at Quincy.

He was a shipping clerk at Sohm, Ricker & Weisenhorn; they lived at 1001 North 11th Street. No children with them in 1900.
