John Hellhake, born about June 1842 in Prussia, Germany;  died 02 June 1912(5) at Quincy; Adams, Illinois;  married 27 April 1868 at Quincy to Elizabeth Liethegenea who was born 29 October 1840 at Hagen, Westphalia, Germany and died 31 October 1914(5) at Quincy.

He came to the U.S. on the ship Moravian which sailed from Liverpool, England and arrived at New York City on 11 January 1866. She came to the U.S. on the ship Union which sailed from Bremen, Germany via Southampton, England and arrived in New York on 06 May 1867; she went directly to Quincy.

He became a baker, his bakery was at 721 Maine Street in Quincy. They lived at 646 Maine Street; later at 925 Kentucky Street.

Hellhake, born about August 1870;  married first 16 February 1893 at Peoria, Peoria, Illinois to Frances Karnbach (daughter of Franz August Karnbach and Susanna Schick) who was born 11 December 1874 in New York and died about 1940 at Brooklyn, Kings, New York, apparently later divorced;  married second by 1920 to Anna (______) Lutz (her second marriage) who was born about 1874 in Germany or New York. He was a horse collar maker. He lived at Peoria circa 1890-92 (Peoria City Directories, published by R. L. Gertrude Elisabeth Hellhake, born about 1872;  died 08 July 1873 aged 01 year(5) at Quincy;  buried at St. Boniface Cemetery.

Casper John Hellhake, born 15 September 1873(5)(8);  died 02 November 1946(5) at Quincy (Death Certificate #041203);  married 12 October 1898 at Quincy (License #11588) to Helena Poepping (daughter of Henry Poepping and Anna Maria Tendick) who was born 04 May 1875(5) in Adams County and died 06 October 1935(5) at Quincy (Death Certificate #037731). Hellhake, page 231, visit 166/184, Quincy (E.D. 47), Adams, Illinois. They are buried at St. Boniface Cemetery at Quincy. Known children:

Sylvester John Hellhake, born 17 October 1900(6);  died June 1987 at Galesburg, Knox, Illinois(6);  married 26 August 1922 to Florence Margaret Noonan (daughter of John Noonan and Ellen Shunick) who was born 24 February 1902(6) at Alexis, Warren, Illinois and died 17 December 2001 at Galesburg(6). Hellhake, born 04 October 1929(6), died 12 January 1997 at Beaver Falls, Beaver, Pennsylvania(6);  Robert Hellhake.

Romanus J. Hellhake, born 15 December 1901(6) in Missouri(7);  died 09 March 1983 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California(6)(7). SSN issued in Texas(6).

Althea Marie Hellhake, born 25 September 1915(6)(7) in Illinois;  died 09 March 1993(6) in Napa County, California(7);  married to ______ Boman(7).

Joseph John Hellhake, born 27 August 1879(7)(but WWI draft registration says 1880(8));  died 15 September 1944 in Los Angeles County, California(7);  married after the 1910 census to Helen Louise Kernahan (daughter of (Doctor) George Kernahan and Florence Tallmadge) who was born 10 April 1890(6)(7) at Chicago, Cook, Illinois and died 03 February 1980 at Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California(6)(7). He was a bookkeeper at a brewery. 1920 Census: Joseph J. Hellheke, page 161, visit 137/140, Quincy (4th Ward), Adams, Illinois. Known child:  Eileen Hellhake, born about February 1915.

Anton Frank Hellhake, born 12 September 1882(8);  married after the 1910 census to Effie ______ who was born about 1881 in Illinois. He worked in an automobile factory. 1920 Census: Antone Helhake, page 046, visit 033/094, Chicago (E.D. 124), Cook, Illinois.

August Joseph Hellhake, born 24 August 1884(8);  married 1916-17 to Martha E. Ramsey (daughter of ______ Ramsey and Margaret ______, both born in Kentucky) who was born 1881(5) in Illinois and died 1947(5) at Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas. He was a painter. He registered for the WWI Draft at Quincy. 1910 Census: (single, with parents). 1920 Census: August Hellhake (with her sister Katharine Ramsey), page 158, visit 049/060, Wichita (E.D. 136), Sedgwick, Kansas. 1930 Census: Martha Hellhake (married but alone), page 072, visit 102/364, Wichita (E.D. 052), Sedgwick, Kansas. She is buried at Calvary Cemetery at Wichita (Section 6, row 25). Known child:  Sylvia Hellhake [apparently adopted after the 1920 census], born 01 April 1909(6) in Oklahoma, died 12 May 2000 at Haysville, Sedgwick, Kansas(6), married first 12 May 1928 at Wichita to Francis Hall Wilson (son of John Logan Wilson and Anna Katherine Berberich) who was born 01 March 1909 at Wichita and died 23 April 1961 at Wichita, married second to Harry T. Taylor who was born 15 September 1901(6) and died 21 August 1975 at Wichita(6), they are all buried at Calvary Cemetery at Wichita, known children with first husband: August John Wilson, born about 1928, Francis Hall Wilson, and Duane L. Wilson.
