Johannes Casper Henry Hellhake (son of HENRICH HELLHAKE), born 01 September and baptized 02 September 1819 at Allendorf, Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia, Germany(1); died 22 January 1900 aged 80 years, 04 months, 21 days(5) at Quincy, Adams, Illinois, USA; married 07 May 1848 at Quincy to ANNA CATHARINA GERTRUDE HEINE who was baptized 01 February 1828 at Allendorf(1) and died 14 November 1901 aged 73 years, 10 months(5) at Quincy.
He was a tobacconist and was a partner with his brother-in-law Anton Henry Heine in the cigar manufacturing firm of Hellhake & Heine at 102 Hampshire Street in Quincy. He later owned a grocery store. They lived at 186 North 7th Street in Quincy, later at 523 North 7th Street.

August was a boot and shoe maker; he was a partner in the shoe store of Schell & Hellhake. He was a charter member of the Western Catholic Union, when it was formed in 1877.
