John Caspar [Clute] Freiburg (son of CASPAR CLUTE gnt FREIBURG), born 08 January and baptized 10 January 1811(1) at Allendorf, Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia, Germany [see also NOTE]; died after 1894 at Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa, USA; married 21 January 1840 at Allendorf(1) to Maria Frances Schulte (daughter of Franz Anton Schulte and Elisabeth Kaiser) who was baptized 06 May 1817 at Allendorf(1) and apparently died before the 1880 U.S. census at Dubuque.
They (and two of his younger brothers) came to the U.S. on the ship Columbia which sailed from Bremen, Germany and arrived at Baltimore on 27 June 1842 [NOTE: see entry #44 on the passenger list: Johann “Klote” from Allendorf, 3 men, _? women, 1 child 0-1 years of age]. He owned a grocery store and saloon at Dubuque.
