Frederick Wilhelm [Clute] Freiburg (son of CASPAR CLUTE gnt FREIBURG), born 28 January and baptized 29 January 1822(1) at Allendorf, Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia, Germany [see also NOTE];  died 08 October 1897 at Dyersville, Dubuque, Iowa, USA;  married 04 May 1852 in Dubuque County to Maria Anna Krapfl (daughter of Jacob Krapfl and Catharine Rampf) who was born 17 October 1833 at Hiltersried (Schönthal), Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany and died 26 February 1908 at Dyersville.

He came to the U.S. with his older brother Johannes on the ship Columbia which sailed from Bremen, Germany and arrived at Baltimore on 27 June 1842 [NOTE: see entry #44 on the passenger list: Johann “Klote” from Allendorf, 3 men, _? women, 1 child 0-1 years of age]. He owned a grocery store and saloon. He was a partner in the Freiburg & Krapfl Lumber Company, with Anna’s brother Andrew.

Henry J. Freiburg, born about July 1853(5);  died 26 February 1912(5) at Dyersville;  married 16 September 1884 in Dubuque County to Emma C. Schreiber (daughter of Charles Christian Schreiber and Maria Reinfried) who was born 29 November 1863(5) at Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa and died 24 February 1941(5) at Burlington, Des Moines, Iowa. He co-owned a general store. He later was a bookkeeper for a lumber yard. Iowa Gazetteer and Business Directory for 1884-85, Volume 3 (published by R. L. They are buried at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery (Section D, row 3) at Dyersville. His will (Dubuque Will Book 113, page 107). They had three children, one of whom died before the 1900 census. Carl Frederick Freiburg, born 03 February 1886(8);  died 1962;  married 28 October 1913 at New Vienna, Dubuque, Iowa to Anna Clementine Klostermann (daughter of Franz Henry Klostermann and Catherine BÖckenstedt) who was born about 1886 in Dubuque County and died 08 January 1982. Freiburg, born 13 April 1915(6), died 29 September 2005 at Cedar Rapids, Linn, Iowa(6), married to Marjorie J. ______ who was born 18 October 1918(6) and died 18 January 2006 at Cedar Rapids(6);  Mary Jean Freiburg, born 08 September 1918(6), died 24 January 2005(6) at Great River Medical Center at West Burlington, Des Moines, Iowa (Burlington Hawk Eye, issue of 26 January 2005), married 20 January 1940 to Robert D. Tibbets who was born 01 August 1916(6) and died 22 October 1995 at Ft. Madison, Lee, Iowa(6);  Frederick John Freiburg, born 30 October 1921(5), died 28 May 1967(5) at East Moline, Rock Island, Illinois, married to Patricia Louise St. John who was born about 1926, he was a WWII veteran (U.S. Army), he is buried at Rock Island National Cemetery (Section L, site 464);  Roger J. Freiburg, born 1923, married 24 November 1949 at Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois to Alma Jean Budelier (daughter of Frank Budelier and Anna Russell) who was born 05 August 1926(5)(6) at Rock Island and died 12 April 2005(5)(6) at Central DuPage Hospital at Winfield, DuPage, Illinois (Rock Island Argus, issue of 14 April 2005), he was a WWII veteran (U.S. Army SN:37666920), she was a schoolteacher, she was also a U.S. Army veteran, she is buried at Rock Island National Cemetery (Section H, site 058).

Edmund Henry Freiburg, born 22 November 1891(10);  married 1919-20 to Irene E. ______ who was born 08 September 1888(6) in New York and died December 1981 at South Bend, St. Joseph, Indiana(6). He was an electrician at a brake factory. They were both WWI veterans (from 1930 census). 1910 Census: (single, with parents). 1930 Census: Edmund V. Freiburg, page 011, visit 255/285, South Bend, St. Joseph, Indiana. He was working for Indiana & Michigan Electric Company at South Bend in 1942(10). No children with them in 1930.

John Freiburg, born about 1855;  possibly died 11 March 1924 at Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota.

Mary A. Freiburg, born about 1857;  married 27 September 1887 in Dubuque County to William W. Meyers. Known child:  Frederick B. Meyers, born about November 1889 in Illinois, 1900 Census: Fredrick B. Meyer (with grandmother Anna M. Freiburg).

Frank J. Freiburg, born about 1859;  died 17 March 1882 at Dyersville.
