Friedrich Aloysius Schmidt (son of Franz Anton Schmidt and Maria Anna Klute), baptized 30 August 1827 at Allendorf, Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia(1);  married 20 November 1855 at Allendorf(1) to Maria Theresia Schmidt (daughter of Fritz Schmidt gnt Fildhaut and Philippina Schulte) who was baptized 19 December 1832 at Allendorf(1).

He was a farmer. They came to the U.S. on the ship Hansa which sailed from Bremen and arrived in New York City on 22 May 1865.

[NOTE: These are the only likely possibilities that I found in the 1870 and 1880 U.S. censuses, but I have absolutely no other evidence that they might be the same family.]

Known children, most or all born at Allendorf:

(Son), born and died 15 October 1858(1).

Friedrich Johann Schmidt, baptized 27 December 1860(1).

Joseph Anton Schmidt, baptized 02 November 1863(1).

Possibly Frank Schmidt, born about 1874 in Michigan.
