He was a stone mason; later he was a lead miner. They came to the U.S. from Affeln [now in Märkischer Kreis], Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia, Germany on the ship Uhland which sailed from Bremen, Germany and arrived at New Orleans on 18 June 1852.

Augusta Belken, born about February 1870;  died 1949;  married 28 May 1889 in Lafayette County (Book 3, page 040) to John A. Fiedler (son of Bernard Fiedler and Catherine Schneider, both born in Prussia) who was born about October 1861 in Wisconsin. He was a saloon keeper. 1900 Census: John A. Fiedler, page 015, visit 031/035, Mineral Point city, Iowa, Wisconsin. 1910 Census: John A. Fiedler, page 240, visit 106/114, Cuba City village, Grant, Wisconsin. They had at least eight children, one of whom died before the 1900 census, and another one of whom died before the 1910 census. Known children:  John C. Fiedler, born 11 March 1890(8);  Herbert B. Fiedler, born 28 November 1895(6)(8), died April 1977 at Patch Grove, Grant, Wisconsin(6), married Rose Welsh;  Bertha C. Fiedler, born about October 1898, married Arthur Splinster;  Raymond Fiedler, born about 1900, married Violet Murray;  Marie Fiedler, born about 1903, married Harry Abbott;  Urban Fiedler, born 09 February 1906(6), died November 1984 at Janesville, Rock, Wisconsin(6), married Mabel Barlett;  Louis Fiedler, birthdate not known, married Bell Hortense;  Adrian Fiedler, born about 1914, died July 1963.

Mary S. Belken, born 29 May 1879;  married 28 July 1902 in Lafayette County, Wisconsin to John F. Rogan (son of Eugene and Mary Rogan). Known children:  Leila Rogan, married Calvin Pooler;  Zita Rogan, married Frank Jacombe.

Louisa C. Belken, born 17 January 1882(6);  died December 1970 at Cuba City, Grant, Wisconsin(6);  married 08 October 1901 to Henry John Wedig (son of Barthol Wedige and Catherine Schuster, and brother of Peter J. Wedige, just below) who was born 11 April 1880(6) in Elk Grove and died 15 May 1966 at Cuba City(6). He was a farmer. 1910 Census: Henry J. Splinter who was born 25 August 1905 in Wisconsin;  Urban LuVerne Wedig, born 22 January 1907(6), died 08 December 1989 at Davenport, Scott, Iowa(6), married Bergetta Fulmer;  Marie M. Wedig, born 28 May 1909, died 16 March 1999 at Cuba City, married 25 February 1930 to George A. Vosberg who was born 12 January 1903 in Wisconsin;  Catherine Sophia Wedig, born 06 November 1911, married Charles Christopher;  Marcella Alberta Wedig, born 31 October 1913, married Joseph Staub;  Maurice Joseph Wedig, born 13 August 1918(6), died 17 November 1995 at Monroe, Green, Wisconsin(6), married Bernice Afford;  Modesta C. Wedig, born 13 May 1920, married Eugene Bennett;  Anna Wedig, born 04 February 1922, married Ervin Bessler.

Bertha Ann Belken, born 26 July 1887;  died 24 December 1958;  married to Peter J. Wedige (son of Barthol Wedige and Catherine Schuster, and brother of Henry John Wedig, just above) who was born about June 1887 in Elk Grove. Known children:  Delvan Wedige, married Eileen Kilkelly;  LaVerne Wedige, died young;  Donald Wedige;  Hilda Wedige, married James Dunn;  Leona Wedige, married Gene Udelhoven;  Minerva Wedige, born 07 July 1915, died 19 April 2008 at Madison, Dane, Wisconsin, married 25 July 1934 to Leonard L. Teasdale;  Mercedes Wedige, married John Murray;  Helen Wedige, married Joseph Smith;  Emily Wedige, married Daniel Smith;  Gertrude Wedige, married Celcus Kilkelly;  Norma Wedige, married Albert Graeber;  Ruth Margaret Wedige, married first to Lawrence Robert Rielly (son of John Harold Rielly and Irene Agnes McKeon).

George John Belken, born 07 February 1891(8). He was a miner. He registered for the WWI Draft in Grant County, Wisconsin. 1920 Census: (single, with mother).

Elizabeth Belken, born about 1843;  married 03 July 1862 at Galena, Jo Daviess, Illinois to Jacob Baker who was born about 1833. Known children:  Daniel Baker, born about 1862;  Jacob Baker, born about 1864;  Emma Baker, born about 1866;  Louis Baker, born about 1869;  Mary Baker, born about 1872;  John Baker, born about 1874;  Leah Baker, born about 1876;  Frank Baker, born about 1880;  Ella Baker, born about 1882.
