Johannes Christian Krengel (son of Christoph Krengel and Anna Eva Baltes), born 18 May 1787 in Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia, Germany and baptized 19 May 1787 at Stockum, Kreis Arnsberg, Westphalia, Germany;  died in Wisconsin or Illinois, USA;  married 27 October 1812 at Stockum to Anna Maria Elisabetha Theresia Messerschmidt (daughter of Friedrich Gottlieb Messerschmidt and Elisabeth Gertrud Happe) who apparently died in Germany [or during the trip overseas].

He and several of the children came to the U.S. on the ship Martha which sailed from Bremen and arrived at Baltimore, Maryland on 01 September 1845.

Johann Franz Anton Kringle, born 05 January and baptized 06 January 1826;  married about 1854 to Mary A. ______ who was born about 1834-35 in England and died 08 April 1901 aged 66 years(5). He was a miner. 1860 Census: Anton Kringle, page 494, visit 1265/1322, Galena (5th Ward), Jo Daviess, Illinois. 1870 Census: Anton Krengle, page 138, visit 349/360, Galena city, Jo Daviess, Illinois. 1880 Census: Anton Krengel, page 288, visit 150/160, Galena (5th Ward), Jo Daviess, Illinois. 1900 Census: Anton Kringle, page 244, visit 416/432, Galena (5th Ward), Jo Daviess, Illinois. She is buried at St. Michael’s Cemetery at Galena. They had thirteen children, two of whom died before the 1900 census. Known children, born in Illinois:

William A. Kringle, born 1854(5);  died 1935(5) at Stockton, Jo Daviess, Illinois;  married 11 August 1885 in Jo Daviess County (Book E, page 461) to Mary Ann Hayes who was born 1860(5) in Ireland and died 25 March 1934(5) at Stockton (Death Certificate #430051). He was a merchant. 1900 Census: William Kringle, page 158, visit 147/147, Stockton village, Jo Daviess, Illinois. They are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery at Stockton. Known children, born in Illinois:  Bert Kringle, born about May 1886;  May Kringle, born about July 1890;  Oswald Kringle, born about March 1894;  Ruth A. Kringle, born 15 July 1896(5)(6), died November 1967(5) at Stockton(6), unmarried, buried with parents;  Vivian Kringle, born about July 1899.

John Francis Kringle, born about March 1859;  married 27 January 1885 in Grant County, Wisconsin to Mary Ann Tregoning (daughter of ______ Tregoning and Mary Ann ______, and sister of Amelia, below) who was born about December 1865 in England and apparently died before the 1910 census. He was a teamster. 1900 Census: John Cringle, page 151, visit 240/243, Dubuque Township, Dubuque, Iowa. 1910 Census: John Kringle (widower), page 182, visit 181/210, Dubuque (5th Ward), Dubuque, Iowa. Known children, first four born at Galena, the rest born in Dubuque:  Mamie? Kringle, born about August 1885;  Raymond Kringle, born 06 March 1887(8);  Louella Kringle, born about March 1889;  Deloss Samuel Kringle, born 16 July 1891(6)(8), died October 1972 at Dubuque(6);  Bessie Kringle, born about August 1893;  William Leo Kringle, born 10 October 1895(8);  Grace Kringle, born about August 1898;  John Kringle, born about 1900 after the census;  Walter Kringle, born about 1904.

George Sims Kringle, born 19 March 1861(5);  died 23 December 1922(5) at Galena (Death Certificate #430231). He is buried at St. Michael’s Cemetery at Galena.

Oliver Kringle, born about 1863.

Theresa Kringle, born 1865(5);  died 1924(5);  married to Oregon Beldin who was born 1846(5) and died 1930(5). He served in Company H, 7th Illinois Cavalry Regiment during the Civil War(5). They are buried at St. Michael’s Cemetery at Galena.

Henry Joseph Kringle, born about 1868;  married 16 February 1892 in Grant County, Wisconsin to Amelia Jane Tregoning (daughter of ______ Tregoning and Mary Ann ______, and sister of Mary Ann, above) who was born about June 1872 in Illinois. He was a farmer; later an express driver. 1900 Census: Henry Kringle, page 210, visit 090/091, Dubuque (1st Ward), Dubuque, Iowa. 1910 Census: Henry J. Kringle, page 073, visit 062/064, Dubuque (4th Ward), Dubuque, Iowa. Children:  Sylvia A. Kringle, born about January 1893;  Blanche M. Kringle, born about February 1895.

Adeline A. Kringle, born about September 1869;  married 25 January 1892 in Grant County, Wisconsin to Charles Willis.

Frederick Kringle, born about 1872.

Lillie Kringle, born about May 1875.

Walter Christopher Kringle, born 02 November 1877(8);  married 1903-04 to Lenora B. Stoltz who was born about 1879 in Iowa. He owned a marble monument company. 1910 Census: Walter C.
