George William6 Orner (William5, Jacob4, Jacob3, felix2, Ulrich1), [aka George W. Amo], born 28 November 1847 at Martinsville, Morgan, Indiana;  died 27 March 1927(14) at Ft. Dodge, Webster, Iowa;  married first 02 December 1868 in Morgan County, Indiana (Book C-E, page 422) to Mary Belle Kingsbury (daughter of William Kingsbury and Mary Belle Stout, both born in Ireland) who was born 22 October 1848 in Green County, Ohio and died 08 March 1921(14) at Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, possibly later divorced [but probably not];  married second 03 June 1883 at Monticello, Piatt, Illinois (Book B, page 058: “George Amos” & “Davilla A. Robertson”) to Della I. Robertson (daughter of James Riley Robertson and Elizabeth Brumfield) who was born about April 1866 in Illinois and died 07 May 1938(14) at Ft. Dodge.

He was a carpenter; later he was a teamster. Civil War service: Company H, 148th Indiana Infantry Regiment. He received an invalid pension, application filed 25 October 1910 in Iowa. Della applied for a widow's pension, application filed 06 April 1927 in Iowa.

He changed his surname from Orner to Amo, and fled to Illinois, when he thought that he had killed a man in a fist fight. He only found out many years later that he had not killed that man. [Info from descendant Linda (Amo) Foglia.]

He was the traffic manager at the Indianapolis Stockyards; later he was Secretary of a Building and Loan Company. 1900 Census: William H. Known children:  Geraldine Gates, born about 1919, married ______ Vanriesen;  Gordon O. Gates, born 05 April 1923(17), died 20 April 2004 at Indianapolis(17), married Suzann R. ______, he was a WWII veteran (U.S. Navy).

Marion Sophia8 Bockstahler, born 03 December 1898(17);  died 06 November 1981 at Indianapolis(14)(17);  married 14 June 1922 at Indianapolis (Book 119, page 310) to George Oliver Browne who was born 25 April 1900(17) in Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan and died 14 February 1975 at Indianapolis(14)(17). He was a sales executive for an advertising company. 1930 Census: George O. Brown, page 201, visit 106/153, Indianapolis (E.D. 051), Marion, Indiana. They are buried at Crown Hill Cemetery (Section G, lot D-6) at Indianapolis. Known children:  George Oliver Browne, born about 1922;  William Browne, born about February 1927.

William Ralph8 Bockstahler, born about 1902;  died (buried 12 February) 1958(14). He was an insurance agent. He is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery (Section 48, lot 48) at Indianapolis.

William Benjamin7 Orner, born about March 1871;  died November 1911(14) at Westfield, Vermilion, Illinois;  probably never married. 1880 Census: Wm Orner (with grandfather William Kingsbury), page 546B, visit 245/245, Perry, Marion, Indiana. 1890 Indianapolis City Directory (R. L. Polk & Company): Wm B Orner [with mother], clerk, Belt RR. 1900 Census: William B. Orner (single, with brother-in-law William H. Bockstahler, above). He is buried near his mother.

Pfaff and Margaret Schlaht) who was born 17 June 1892(36) in Hutchinson County, South Dakota and died 04 June 1976 in San Joaquin County(36). He was a carpenter; he also owned a dray line at Lehr, Logan, North Dakota(40). George M.7 Amo, twin, born 30 April 1899 in Iowa(36);  died 25 April 1959 in San Joaquin County, California(36);  married first after the 1920 census to Elizabeth Cahill (daughter of Edward Cahill and Martha Poole) who was born 1904 in Iowa and died 1927-28 at Ft. Dodge, Webster, Iowa from complications of childbirth;  married second to Etta Mae McBride who was born 09 November 1913 and died 26 November 1993 in California. [Info from descendant Bobette (Amo) Aries.] He registered for the WWI Draft at Ft. Dodge [NOTE: draft registration says born 30 April “1898”(40), but also says age 19 (as of 12 September 1918) which would figure out to 1899]. Children with first wife:  Warren Howard Amo, born 21 May 1921(17), died October 1971(17), he was a WWII veteran, he is buried at Garden of Memories cemetery at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa;  Robert Lee Amo, born 1925, died 1984 in Arizona, 1930 Census: Robert Amo (with Joseph Ullrich), page 114 (continued from page 094), visit 127/194, Ft. Grace Dorothy7 Amo, twin, born 30 April 1899 in Iowa(36);  died 05 May 1958 in Orange County, California(36);  married first 1918-19 to James Robert Fowler (son of Alvin Fowler) who was born 15 August 1890 at Lecompte, Louisiana(40), apparently later divorced;  married second 1929-30 to Charles E. Chambers (son of Thomas Chambers and Dorothy Benneson) who was born about December 1899 in Manchester, Freeborn, Minnesota. James was a car inspector for a railroad; he was a WWI veteran. Iowa May7 Amo, born 27 May 1903(17) in Iowa;  died 17 July 1982 at Portland, Multnomah, Oregon(17)(also Death Certificate #82-12115);  married first 1920 after the census to Leonard Ray Lowery (son of James Elmer Lowery and Rosetta ______) who was born 10 September 1892 at Allison, Butler, Iowa(40);  married second after the 1930 census to Wesley C. Koistinen (son of Charles G. and Ida Koistinen) who was born 03 November 1909(17) in Cleveland, Hamlin, South Dakota and died 29 May 2001 at Portland(17). Leonard registered for the WWI Draft at Des Moines, Polk, Iowa. 1930 Census: Leonard R. Lowery, page 239, visit 096/101, Ft. Dodge (2nd Precinct), Webster, Iowa. Known children with first husband:  Dorothy I. Lowery, born about 1921;  Bonnie Jean Lowery, born about 1923.

Wilma7 Amo, born 04 April 1905(17) in Iowa;  died January 1986 at Ft. Dodge(17);  married after the 1920 census to Arthur Cole (son of Asa Cole and Margaret Shannon) who was born about 1903 in Missouri. They had five children. Known child:  Agnes Cole, born about 1924.

Lehr J.7 Amo, born 28 February 1907(17) in Iowa;  died 25 October 1990(17);  married 12 June 1929 at Webster City, Iowa to Elizabeth G. King (daughter of Charles A. King and Anna Priske) who was born 06 June 1909(17) at Eldora, Hardin, Iowa and died 05 February 2006 at Ft. Dodge(17). 1930 Census: Lehr Amo, page 237, visit 064/068, Ft. Dodge (2nd Precinct), Webster, Iowa. She is buried at Ft. Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery. They possibly had no children.
