Jonas5 Burger, born 01 June 1824;  died 29 August 1894 in Whiteside County, Illinois;  married 23 November 1848 in Catawissa to Rebecca B. Loreman (daughter of Jacob Loreman and Lydia Drum) who was born 01 May 1830 in Columbia County and died 01 July 1902 in Whiteside County. Known children, first three born in Pennsylvania:

Mary Alice6 Burger, born 28 June 1853;  died 07 April 1925 in Clarinda, Page, Iowa;  married 07 December 1871 in Illinois to Abraham Clites who was born 07 March 1849 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer. 1880 Census: Abrahan Clites, page 406, visit 267/277, Deer Creek, Mills, Iowa. 1900 Census: Abraham Clites, page 176, visit 130/130, Deer Creek, Mills, Iowa. Children:  Alpha M. Clites (son), born about 1874 in Illinois, apparently died before the 1900 census;  William Clark Clites, born 20 March 1876(40) in Iowa, married 1896-97 to Fannie Josephine Withrow who was born 28 March 1878 in Montgomery County, Iowa, he was a farmer, later an automobile mechanic(40), 1900 Census: William Clites, page 247, visit 197/198, Monroe, Fremont, Iowa, he registered for the WWI Draft at Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska, known child Austin M. Clites was born 02 June 1898(40)[his draft registration at Red Oak, Montgomery, Iowa];  Myrtle R. Clites, born about October 1882 in Iowa, married after the 1900 census to Jesse Shelley who was born 13 September 1879 in Montgomery County, Iowa.

Amanda E.6 Burger, born about June 1857 in Illinois;  died 1939 in Illinois;  married 1879-80 in Illinois to Jacob E. Kline who was born about October 1853 in Pennsylvania. He was a farmer. 1880 Census: Jacob E. Kline (with her parents). 1900 Census: Jacob E. Kline, page 308, visit 164/167, Woosung, Ogle, Illinois. Only child:  Walter Eugene Kline, born 01 March 1886(40) in Illinois, he worked for the Chicago & North Western Railroad(40).

William C.6 Burger, born about June 1859 in Missouri;  died 16 January 1918 at Summerdale, Baldwin, Alabama;  married 1883-84 to Barbara A. Wolford who was born about October 1861 in Maryland. He was a farmer. 1900 Census: William C. Burger, page 090, visit 248/257, Monroe, Adams, Wisconsin. Known children:  Ida R. Burger, born about July 1886 in Illinois;  Roy Porter Burger, born 06 November 1888 in Illinois(40), he was a farmer, he registered for the WWI Draft at Portage, Porter, Indiana;  William J. Burger, born about March 1893 in Iowa.

Sarah Elizabeth Burger, born 11 February 1866 in Illinois;  married 1887-88 to Erastus A. Covert who was born about June 1861 in Illinois. He was a farmer. 1900 Census: Erastus Covert, page 244, visit 038/039, Palmyra, Lee, Illinois. 1910 Census: Erastus A. Covert, page 247, visit 175/178, Palmyra, Lee, Illinois. 1930 Census: Erastus A. Covert, page 091, visit 048/055, Dixon (5th Ward), Lee, Illinois. They had three children, two of whom died before the 1910 census. Known child:  Nellie E. Covert, born about September 1899.

Ida E.6 Burger, born 16 March 1869 in Illinois;  died 11 December 1930 in Lee County, Illinois;  married 18 February 1891 in Lee County to Samuel A. McGaffey (son of William McGaffey and Margaret F. Davis) who was born 10 December 1866 in Oakwood, Lee, Illinois and died May 1926 in Lee County. Known children, born in Lee County:  Clara Elizabeth McGaffey, born about February 1896;  Samuel Arnold McGaffey, born about 1904, married 1927-28 to Eva _______ who was born about 1905 in Illinois, he was a farmer, 1930 Census: Arnold McGaffey (with his mother), known child Robert McGaffey born about October 1928.

Eldora6 Burger, born 04 March 1872 in Illinois;  died 02 May 1892 in Whiteside County.

Melvin B.6 Burger, born 30 September 1872 in Illinois;  died 03 April 1916 in Whiteside County, Illinois;  married 1908-09 to Mamie R. ______ who was born about 1891 in Iowa. He was an iron moulder. 1910 Census: Melvin B. Berger, page 201, visit 018/019, Rock Falls (1st Ward), Whiteside, Illinois.
