Elizabetha3 Arner (Felix2, Ulrich1), born 15 May 1756(2) in Whitehall, Northampton (now North Whitehall, Lehigh), Pennsylvania and christened 15 July 1756(2)(Sponsors: Jacob and Anna Elisabeth Rex);  died 20 June 1819(14) in Menallen (now Butler), Adams, Pennsylvania;  married 31 May 1774(3)(34) in Heidelberg, Northampton (now Lehigh), Pennsylvania to (Ensign) Daniel Rex (son of her godfather’s brother George Rex and Anna Margaretha Knaus) who was born 16 June 1755 in Heidelberg and died 30 August 1835 aged 80 years, 02 months, 14 days(14) in Menallen (now Butler).

He was a Lutheran communicant at the Heidelberg Church on 19 October 1776(8). They moved to Menallen, York (now Butler, Adams), Pennsylvania in 1785 with a group of settlers (including her brother Felix3 Arner) from Heidelberg and Whitehall. He received a Revolutionary War pension (National Archives File #8.4066) [his pension application] [a transcript of the application, posted on RootsWeb].

1820 Census: probably with son John Rex, page 032, Menallen, Adams, Pennsylvania.

1830 Census: Daniel Rex, page 088, Menalen, Adams, Pennsylvania [NOTE: has one female age 20-30 living with him, possibly a housekeeper or possibly daughter Magdalena with her age recorded wrong].

His will (Adams Will Book D, page 280) which was signed 01 March 1832 and proved on 07 September 1835, mentions son Henry; daughters Molly unmarried, Catherine wife of Michael Miller, Margaret wife of Moses Crum, and Elisabeth wife of Henry Peter; son-in-law Frederick Eigholtz; and sons John, Daniel, Jacob, Jonas, and William. They are buried at Bender’s Lutheran Church in Butler Township (her gravestone)(his gravestone)(his separate plaque)[all photos by Beth Snyder].

Known children, first five born in Whitehall, Northampton (now Lehigh) County, the rest born in Menallen:

Daniel4 Rex, born 22 July and christened 24 July 1779 (Sponsors: Jacob Burger and Susanna)(3);  died 26 July 1779(3).

John4 Rex, born 19 September and christened 27 September 1780 (Sponsors: John Arner and Catharine Rex)(3);  died 18 January 1841;  married to Mary Catherine Eicholz (daughter of Frederick Eicholz and Catharine Feidler, and sister of Frederick, below). 1820 Census: John Rex, page 032, Menallen, Adams, Pennsylvania.

Catharine4 Rex, born 17 June and christened 11 August 1782 (Sponsors: Felix Arner and Catharine Rex)(3);  married first to Michael Miller;  married second to Frederick Eicholz (widower of her sister Susanna, just below).

Susanna4 Rex, born 20 July and christened 10 August 1783 (Sponsors: Jacob Burger and Susanna)(3);  died 11 July 1819(14) in Adams County;  married to Frederick Eicholz (son of Frederick Eicholz and Catharine Feidler, and brother of Mary Catherine, above) who was born about 1785 and died 04 May 1837. She is buried at Bender’s Church.

+    JOHN DANIEL4 REX, born 11 December 1784 and christened 20 February 1785 (Sponsors: Daniel Reber and Dorothea Arner)(3);  married Catharine Minnich (daughter of Michael Minnich and Catharina Nehlig, and sister of Maria Magdalena, below);  moved to Frankford, Cumberland, Pennsylvania; then to Cass, Richland, Ohio.

+    JACOB4 REX, born 06 July and christened 23 July 1786 (Sponsors: Jacob Grunemeyer and Greta)(10);  married first Mary Mayberry;  moved to Butler, Adams, Pennsylvania.

+    MARGARET4 REX, born 11 November 1788 and christened 08 February 1789 (Sponsors: Jacob Grinenmeire and Marcreta)(10);  married MOSES CRUM;  moved to Sharon, Richland, Ohio.

+    WILLIAM4 REX, born 31 December 1789 and christened 09 May 1790 (Sponsors: Jacob Wirdt and Christina)(10);  married Maria Magdalena Minnich (daughter of Michael Minnich and Catharina Nehlig, and sister of Catherine, above);  moved to Pike, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

Jonas4 Rex, born 15 May and christened 25 September 1791 (Sponsors: Felix Aner and ______?)(10);  died 01 August 1865 in Troy, Wood, Ohio;  married to Leah Myers who apparently died before the 1850 census. Daniel H.5 Rex, born 31 December 1818 in Pennsylvania;  apparently died before the 1910 census in Troy, Wood, Ohio;  married 1843-44 to Sarah Stentz who was born 24 December 1823 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. John H.6 Rex, born about 1854;  married after the 1880 census to ________? who apparently died before the 1900 census. He was a farmer. 1880 Census: J. H. Rex (single, with parents). 1900 Census: John Rex (widower, with parents). Known child:  Henry Jones Rex, born 28 July 1884(40), married 1905-06 to Allie ______ who was born about 1883 in Ohio, he was a farmer, later he was a boiler operator(40), he registered for the WWI Draft in Sandusky County, Ohio, 1910 Census: Henry J. Rex, page 278, visit 138/138, Troy, Wood, Ohio, known child John Rex was born about 1906.

Elisabeth4 Rex, born 15 November 1794;  died 29 March 1879;  married to Henry H.
