Daniel4 Arner (William3, Felix2, Ulrich1), born about 1810 in West Penn, Northampton (now Schuylkill), Pennsylvania;  died about July 1839 in an explosion at his brother Henry Arner’s powder mill in East Penn, Northampton (now Mahoning, Carbon), Pennsylvania;  married to Leah Strauss who was born 1817(14) in Pennsylvania and died 17 January 1893(14) in Iowa.

His estate (Northampton Will File #4893, and continued in Carbon Will File #120), filed 03 August 1839 in Northampton County and September 1847 in the recently organized Carbon County, and Final Settlement filed 01 June 1857 in Carbon County: various documents mention widow Leah, guardian William Soldt of his “four children” (but only three named): William, Matilda and Lewis; and later Charles Xander guardian of Matilda, and Ammon Arner and Tilghman Arner guardians of Lewis. [Note that his estate records in Carbon County also contain the entire misfiled estate of Daniel4 Arner (Johannes3, Ulrich2, Ulrich1) which should have been Carbon Will File #130.]

In a document filed in Northampton County (Orphans Court Book 13, page 217), Leah Arner, widow of Daniel, requests that the following guardians be appointed for her children, all under the age of fourteen: Alfred Hanline for son William, Henry Arner for son Lewis, Jonas Stouse for daughter Matilda, and Thomas Beltz for daughter Mary Ann.
