Margaret5 Aurner (JACOB4, Heinrich3, HEINRICH2, Ulrich1), born 22 March 1836(14) in New York (or Ohio);  died 31 August 1903(14) at Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa;  married 31 December 1857 in DeKalb County (Book A, license #0391) to George Gorham (son of Charles Gorham and Emeline Clarissa Peck) who was born 17 March 1833 in East Pembroke, Genesee, New York and died 06 August 1927 at the State Veterans Home at Hot Springs, Fall River, South Dakota (Death Certificate #110901).

[His ancestry is on Bill Gertz’ website and in Donald Gorham’s GEDCOM.] He was a blacksmith, later a machinist. He served in Company H, 13th Michigan Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He received an invalid pension (Certificate #638714); Application #842662 filed 28 July 1890 in South Dakota.

1920 Census: George Gorham (“married”, inmate at State Soldiers Home), page 272B, line 77, Hot Springs city, Fall River, South Dakota.

She is buried at Floyd Cemetery at Sioux City. He is buried at State Veterans Home Cemetery in Fall River County.

They had six children, two of whom died before the 1900 census.

Charles Edward6 Gorham, born 07 January 1862;  apparently married first 1900 after the census (“age 28 at first marriage” from 1930 census) to ________?;  married second (from 1910 census) 30 July 1903 at Sioux City to Margaret Lanneback (daughter of Charles Lanneback and Minnie Kistner, both born in Germany) who was born about 1879 in Iowa. He was a fireman for a railroad; later a fireman at a brewery; later he was a building engineer. 1900 Census: Charles E. Known children, born in Iowa:  Helen Gorham [apparently either his child from his first marriage, or her child and adopted], born about 1900-01, married after the 1920 census to ______ Little who was born in Iowa, she was a salesperson at a department store, 1930 Census: Helen Little (divorced, with mother Margaret Gorham), known child Deloris Little was born about 1920-21;  Edwin Gorham, born 01 November 1905(17), died January 1973 at Sioux City(17);  Faye M. Gorham, born 08 July 1908, possibly married after the 1930 census to ______ Schwinck, she was a cashier at a department store;  Earl Gorham, born about March 1910.

George Frederick6 Gorham, born 11 July 1867;  died 28 March 1930 at Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska;  married 01 September 1892 at Sioux City to Louisa Laura Barrett (daughter of John Barrett and Martha Louise Kitchen) who was born 02 May 1871 in Midhurst, Sussex, England and died 26 December 1926 at Omaha. (Captain) George Fred7 Gorham, born 31 May 1893(14) at Sioux City(40);  died 05 July 1945(14) in Texas;  married 1912-13 to (Tech Sergeant) Jessie Fern Coleman (daughter of Charles and Mary Coleman) who was born 25 November 1895(14) possibly at Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska and died 01 March 1989 at El Paso, El Paso, Texas(14). He was a construction foreman for a telephone company. He was a WWI veteran (U.S. Army); he registered for the Draft at Waco, York, Nebraska. She served in the U.S. Army Air Corps(14). 1930 Census: George F. Gorham, page 139, visit 015/015, Phoenix (E.D. 26), Maricopa, Arizona. They are buried at Fort Bliss National Cemetery (Plot B-0-231) in El Paso County, Texas. Known children, most born in Nebraska:  Vivian F. Gorham, born about 1914;  George Fred Gorham, born 19 July 1918(14)(17), died 04 August 1971(17) at El Paso(14), never married, he served in the U.S. Army(14), he is buried at Fort Bliss National Cemetery (Plot I-0-2271);  (Master Sergeant) Bennie N. Gorham, born 27 October 1920(14)(17), died 07 April 1996 at El Paso(14)(17), he served in the U.S. Air Force, he is buried at Fort Bliss National Cemetery (also in Plot I-0-2271);  Barbara A. Gorham, born about 1924;  Richard G. Gorham, born about December 1925 in Iowa;  Louisa L. Gorham, born about June 1928 in Wyoming.

Harold John7 Gorham, born 25 November 1894(17)(36)(40);  died 15 October 1974(36) at Montrose, Los Angeles, California(17);  married first 1913-14 to Eula May Swan (daughter of Harry L. and Sarah A. Swan) who was born 21 April 1896 at Denver, Arapahoe (now Denver), Colorado and died 23 March 1919 at Herman, Washington, Nebraska;  married second 1920-21 to Alma Sorensen (daughter of ______ Sorensen and ______ Croisant(36)) who was born 19 March 1899(17) in Iowa(36) and died 10 September 1987(36) at Glendale, Los Angeles, California(17). He was a clothing salesman; later a commercial furniture hauler. 1920 Census: Harold J. Gorham (widower, and children, with parents). 1930 Census: Harold J. Gorham, page 009, visit 228/260, Atlantic (1st Ward), Cass, Iowa. Laura Myrtle7 Gorham, born 26 October 1900(14);  died 29 August 1962 at Davenport, Scott, Iowa(14);  married 15 July 1924 at Omaha to (Sergeant) Frank Theodore Plambeck (son of Louis Claus Plambeck and Maria Dorothea Holm) who was born 14 October 1895(14)(17) at Davenport(40) and died 02 September 1965(17) at Tempe, Maricopa, Arizona(14). He was a clerk. He was a WWI veteran; he registered for the Draft at Omaha. They are buried at Rock Island National Cemetery (Plot L-0-1381) in Rock Island County, Illinois. Known children:  Mary Louise Plambeck, born 13 October 1926(17) at Omaha, died 23 June 2000 at Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona(17), married 15 October 1947 to Earl Randolph Gertz who was born 04 August 1921 in Eldridge, Scott, Iowa;  Frank Theodore Plambeck, born 02 February 1931, married 22 June 1957 to Victoria Ann Cole;  Ruth Ann Plambeck, born 22 February 1935, married Walter Bell Patterson.

Robert Barrett7 Gorham, born about 1902;  died at Horton, Brown, Kansas. He was a manager of a theater. 1930 Census: Rob B. Gorham (divorced, with Laura E. Wines), page 028, visit 155/168, Hiawatha (2nd Ward), Brown, Kansas.

Genevieve Blanche7 Gorham, born 27 January 1910(17)(36) at Omaha;  died 22 December 1976(17) in Riverside County, California(36);  married 19 March 1927 at Omaha to Walter Laverne Painter (son of William Henry Painter and Vivia Orlinda Bomar, both born in Iowa) who was born 18 October 1907(17) in Harper County, Oklahoma and died 04 October 1996 at Yuma, Yuma, Arizona(17). He was a salesman. 1930 Census: Walter L. Painter, page 059, visit 296/309, Omaha (E.D. 128), Douglas, Nebraska. Known child:  James William Painter, born 25 May 1935 in Los Angeles County, California. [They also had a daughter born after 1940.]

Harriet Lebrey6 Gorham, born 27 August 1868;  married 29 October 1898 at Sioux City to Alvord M. McLaren (son of Peter McLaren and Nancy Gillespie, both born in New York) who was born about 1852 in Augusta, Washtenaw, Michigan. He was a mechanic for a manufacturing company. 1920 Census: Alvord McLearan, page 279, visit 074/185, Chicago (E.D. 1056), Cook, Illinois. Known child:  Mildred McLaren, born about 1901 in Missouri.

Josephine Mabel6 Gorham, born 19 April 1871;  apparently died before the 1900 census;  apparently married to ______ McCune who was born in Minnesota (or possibly Canada). Probable children, born in Minnesota:

Margaret7 McCune, born about July 1891. 1900 Census: Maggie McCune (“niece”, with George F. Gorham, above).

Elmer H.7 McCune, born about October 1893 (or possibly 1892). He was a real estate salesman. 1900 Census: Elmer McCune (“nephew”, with Edwin Huntley, just below). 1910 Census: Elmer H. McCune (with uncle Edwin Huntley, below). 1920 Census: Elmer H. McCuen (single, with uncle Edwin Huntley, below).

Myrtle Lorena6 Gorham, born 23 March 1873(36);  died 09 August 1942 at Belmont, San Mateo, California(36);  married 17 September 1892 at Sioux City to Edwin Lessing Huntley (son of Oscar F. Huntley and Clara Lessing) who was born about July 1870 in Deep Water, Henry, Missouri and died 1936 at Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota. He owned a theater? supply company. He registered for the WWI Draft at Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota. 1930 Census: Joseph A.
