Jacob W.5 Aurner (JACOB4, Heinrich3, HEINRICH2, Ulrich1), born 28 October 1839(14) in Crawford County, Ohio;  died 16 October 1917(14);  married first 01 January 1861 in Cole County, Missouri to Emily Jane Freshour (daughter of John Freshour and Parmelia Allen, both born in Tennessee) who was born 1844(14) in Missouri and died 08 March 1868(14) in Kingston, DeKalb, Illinois;  married second 09 January 1871 in DeKalb County, Illinois (Book D, page 001) to Elizabeth Miller who was born about July 1831(14) in Pennsylvania and died 1903(14) possibly in Alcester, Union, South Dakota.

He was a farmer. Civil War service: Company I, 12th Kansas Infantry Regiment (residence listed as Lanesfield [NOTE: now Edgerton], Johnson, Kansas).

Emily is buried at Vandeburg Cemetery in Kingston. Jacob and Elizabeth are buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery [external link] (Block 1, lot 06) in Alcester.

Mary Jane6 Aurner, born 22 August 1862 in Johnson County, Kansas;  died 29 November 1923 in Strasburg, Emmons, North Dakota (obituary)(Death Certificate, which has the wrong birth info  );  married 19 July 1880 at Elk Point, Union, South Dakota to George Herbert Whalen (his second marriage)(son of Charles Patrick Whaylen and Mary Corrigan, both born in Ireland) who was born 10 March 1849 in Saratoga County, New York and died 29 November 1911 in Strasburg (obituary)(transcription of obituary)(Death Certificate). [Some info from descendant Dorothy E. (Gilman) Esping, who also has Jacob W. He was a farmer. He registered for the WWI Draft in Emmons County. 1910 Census: Maud A. Whalen (single, farmer), page 034, visit 005/063, Viking, Perkins, South Dakota. 1920 Census: Floyd L. Logue, page 143, visit 044/048, Glanaron, Emmons, North Dakota. 1930 Census: Floyd L. Logue, page 185, visit 001/001, McCulley, Emmons, North Dakota. Known children:  Leonard E. Logue, born 21 October 1914(14)(17), died 19 May 1999(14) at Orting, Pierce, Washington(17), married to Velma Vivian ______ who was born 19 July 1913(14)(17) and died 06 April 1995(14) at Orting(17)(also Death Certificate #1995-013463), he served in the U.S. Army(14), they are buried at U.S. Soldier’s Home Cemetery at Orting;  William F. Logue, born about July 1917;  Elmer L. Logue, born about November 1919.

Thomas J.7 Whalen, born 09 August 1887(40);  died 1968;  married 13 November 1907 in Emmons County to Grace Pool (daughter of John Pool) who was born 15 March 1888(48) in North Dakota and died 28 April 1914 in Emmons County(48). Margaret F.7 Whalen, born 11 January 1890;  died 12 November 1918 during the Spanish Flu epidemic in Emmons County;  married 02 June 1913 in Perkins County, South Dakota to Albert Roy Gilman (his second marriage)(son of Albert Gilman and Ollie M. Dobbins) who was born 17 January 1879(40) in Hope, Steele, North Dakota and died 26 December 1963 at Belle Fourche, Butte, South Dakota. He was a farmer. He registered for the WWI Draft at Linton, Emmons, North Dakota. 1910 Census: Margaret M. Whalen (single, with sister Maude, above). 1920 Census: Albert R. Gilman (widower, and children), page 262, visit 103/103, Grand River, Perkins, South Dakota [also Ollie M. Gilman, mother, widow]. She is buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Strasburg. Rhode who was born about 1920, later divorced, married second 31 December 1943 in Lincoln County, South Dakota (Marriage Certificate #230569) to Dorothy Elizabeth Rohrer who was born about 1921;  (First Sergeant) cecil William Gilman, born 27 October 1917(17)(45) in Wyoming, died 29 December 1984(45) at Lake Worth, Palm Beach, Florida(17), married Kaethe M. Rentsch, he retired from the U.S. Army.

Anna May7 Whalen, twin, born 28 February 1892;  died 08 September 1951 aged 59 years at Port Townsend, Jefferson, Washington (Death Certificate #1951-15694);  married December 1912 in Emmons County to Leonard Everett Logue (brother of Floyd, above) who was born 20 September 1887 in Richland Center, Richland, Wisconsin(40). Andrew Fay7 Whalen, twin, born 28 February 1892(17)(40);  died 30 December 1974 at Newberg, Yamhill, Oregon(17)(also Death Certificate #74-20357);  possibly never married. He was a farmer. He was a WWI veteran (U.S. Army SN:4040379). 1930 Census: Andrew Whalen (single, with brother Charles, just below).

Charles P.7 Whalen, born 17 October 1894(40)(but SSDI says 1895(17));  died 28 September 1978 at Pollock, Campbell, South Dakota(17);  married 07 October 1926 in Campbell County, South Dakota (Marriage Certificate #114629) to Irene Della (High) Tennant (her second marriage)(daughter of Scott High and Mary Anna McDonald, and sister of Loren, below) who was born 26 August 1901 in Vermilion County, Illinois and died 05 July 1961. He was a farmer. He was a WWI veteran. 1930 Census: Charles Whalen, page 220, visit 031/031, Township 129 Range 78, Emmons, North Dakota. [She was married first 30 July 1917 to George Roy Tennant, and had at least two children.] Known child:  Albert P. Whalen, born about 1928.

William McKinley7 Whalen, born 25 February 1897(40);  died 02 November 1955 at Newberg, Yamhill, Oregon (Death Certificate #55-13856);  married 17 June 1918 to Ada May Kabusreiter (daughter of John Kabusreiter and Theresa Grace Stermer, and half-sister of Josephine, just below) who was born 02 June 1899(17) in Emmons County and died 10 January 1984 at McMinnville, Yamhill, Oregon(17)(also Death Certificate #84-01087). Edward Darwin7 Whalen, born 16 May 1899(17)(40);  died 09 October 1983(17) at Newberg, Yamhill, Oregon (Death Certificate #83-16658);  married 1924-25 to Josephine Kabusreiter (daughter of Adolph Kabusreiter and Theresa Grace (Stermer) Kabusreiter, and half-sister of Ida, just above) who was born 08 July 1906(17) in Strasburg and died 17 August 1990(17) at Newberg (Death Certificate #90-16656). 1930 Census: Ed Whalen, page 238, visit 048/053, Township 130 Range 78, Emmons, North Dakota. They are buried at Friends Cemetery at Newburg. Known children, first two born in North Dakota:  Edward Bernard Whalen, born 08 April 1925(17), died 06 October 2000 at St. Helens, Columbia, Oregon(17), married Merle Simmons, he was a WWII veteran (U.S. Army);  Stella Marie Whalen, born 08 September 1928(17), died 15 April 1991(17) at Bend, Deschutes, Oregon (Death Certificate #91-07278), married 13 September 1945 at Vancouver, Washington to Milo Duane Farrens (son of Guy Henry Farrens and Clarissa Ellen Warrick) who was born 26 January 1929 at Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska;  Melvin Marlen Whalen, born 08 August 1938 in Oregon, died 14 May 1994 at El Paso, El Paso, Texas, unmarried, buried with parents.

Catherine M.7 Whalen, born 19 June 1902;  died 24 December 1967 at Portland, Multnomah, Oregon (Death Certificate #67-18312);  married first 11 October 1920 in Strasburg to Loren Augustus High (son of Scott High and Mary Anna McDonald, and brother of Irene, above) who was born 24 September 1899(48)(but draft registration says 1900(40)) in Vermilion County, Illinois and died 23 December 1936 aged 37 years(48) at Linton, Emmons, North Dakota;  married second to Albert Heun (his second marriage) who was born 01 February 1887(17)(48) in South Dakota and died 11 December 1963(17) in Emmons County(48).
