Bradschwert and Elisabetha Hannah Rodabaugh who,
along with Peter’s parents Matthias and Maria Barbara Breitschwerdt, are known to have been
in Huntingdon,
According to the Mahoning County History(H),
Philip was one of the first three settlers in what is now Ellsworth Township
[NOTE: Some other references credit him as being the very first permanent
settler in Ellsworth]. He came in 1803 with his wife’s brother(H)[presumably
George Broadsword, who was born about 1779, was a taxpayer in Trumbull (now Mahoning)
County, Ohio by 1807, was married 21 December 1808 in Trumbull County to Polly
Watts, and settled near Philip Arner by 1809]. Philip settled on 160 acres on
the east bank of the Meander Creek, on the road leading to Canfield. He built
the first log cabin in Ellsworth and went back to
