Samuel5 Arner (ANDREW4, Johann3, HEINRICH2, Ulrich1), born 05 June 1847 in Mahoning County, Ohio;  died 1929 in Manistee County, Michigan (Book 3, page 253; not looked up yet);  married 03 July 1870 in Manistee County (FHL film #945508) to Lillian Francelia Crowell (daughter of Samuel and Hannah Crowell) who was born 12 June 1853 in Union, Monroe, New York and died 07 February 1908 in Manistee County (Book 2, page 264)(also Manistee Daily News, issue of 14 February 1908).

He was a coal miner; later he was a farmer.

Lydia Imogene6 Arner, born 15 May 1872 in Ohio (1880 census) or New York (all other censuses);  died 29 August 1955 at Prescott, Yavapai, Arizona (Death Certificate, external link);  married 27 January 1891 in Manistee County (Book 3, page 050) to Charles Franklin Johnson (son of Edwin Johnson and Catherine Beagle) who was born 14 November 1872(40)[or 1873 (death certificate also said 1872, but was changed to 1873)] in Hillsdale County, Michigan and died 28 November 1943 at Prescott (Death Certificate, external link). He was a farmer. He registered for the WWI Draft in Kalkaska County, Michigan. 1900 Census: Charles F. Johnson, page 260, visit 035/035, Maple Grove, Manistee, Michigan. 1910 Census: Chas Johnson, page 268, visit 075/076, Onekama village, Manistee, Michigan. 1920 Census: Charles F. Johnson, page 260, visit 053/054, Rapid River, Kalkaska, Michigan. 1930 Census: Charles Johnson, page 001, visit 023/023, Albert, Montmorency, Michigan. They moved to Prescott about 1935. They are buried at Rolling Hills Cemetery at Prescott. [Some info from descendant Beckie (Johnson) Lowe.] [They had two other children who died before the 1900 census, and three more children born and died before the 1910 census.] Known children, born in Michigan:

Clyde E.7 Johnson, born 28 February 1899(17);  died 05 January 1954(17) at Miller Valley, Yavapai, Arizona (Death Certificate, external link);  married after the 1920 census to Helen ______. 1920 Census: Clyde E. Johnson (single, with parents).

William Franklin7 Johnson, born 20 April 1900;  died 15 April 1980. He was a WWI veteran. 1920 Census: William W. Johnson (single, with parents).

Lyle D.7 Johnson, born 26 May 1910(17);  died 20 December 1972(17). 1920 Census: Lyle D. Johnson (with parents). His SSN was issued in Arizona.

Ora Ethel6 Arner, born 10 September 1873;  died 07 July 1897 in Brown, Manistee, Michigan;  married about 1893 in Manistee County (Book 3, page 099; not looked up yet) to Lewis W. Johnson who was born about November 1866 in Illinois. He was a farmer. [He was married second 1899 to Elsie O. (_____) Singleton who also had two children from a previous marriage, and they had at least two more children, Lewis D. born about 1907, and Roscoe L. born about 1912. 1900 Census: Louis W. Charles Andrew6 Arner, born 21 March 1876(40);  never married(M). He registered for the WWI Draft at Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan. 1930 Census: Charles Arner (single, inmate at Kent County Home), page 152A, line 17, Paris, Kent, Michigan.

Nellie May6 Arner, born 08 November 1878;  apparently died 1910s at Onekama, Manistee, Michigan;  married second 1903-04 to Truman Munson Smith (son of Phineas Munson Smith and Harriet Elizabeth Sprague) who was born 10 August 1870 at Comstock, Kalamazoo, Michigan and died 1954 at Onekama (Book 4, page 249). He owned a general store; later he was a salesman at a department store. 1910 Census: Truman Smith, page 267, visit 029/029, Onekama village, Manistee, Michigan [marital status: Truman “M1”; Nellie “M2”]. [He was married second by 1920 to Mabel E. Peck who was born about 1880 in New York, and possibly had children with her. 1920 Census: Truman M. Smith [and second wife], page 213, visit 140/140, Onekama village, Manistee, Michigan. 1930 Census: Truman M. Smith [and second wife], page 254, visit 039/040, Onekama village, Manistee, Michigan.] According to the 1910 census, Nellie had had two children, both of whom died before the census.

Samuel Harrison6 Arner, born 26 August 1881(40);  died 16 November 1960 at St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota (Death Certificate #1960-031402);  married about 1911-12 to Blanche E. Whipple (daughter of Clarence and Lula Whipple) who was born 14 August 1891 in Ramsey County and died 03 January 1964 at St. Paul (Death Certificate #1964-028604). He was a conductor for the St. Paul City Railway; later he was a farmer; later he was a construction worker. 1910 Census: Samuel H. Arner (single, with Carvoso E. Downer) who was born 19 April 1905(17) in Wyoming and died 12 November 1994 at Eagle Bend, Todd, Minnesota(17)(also Death Certificate #1994-034338), apparently later divorced;  married second 21 October 1943 at Provo, Utah, Utah to Frank Floyd Chambers (son of Frank Chambers and Mary Norwood) was born 01 April 1914(17) in Perryton, Ochiltree, Texas and died 18 December 2001 at Clinton, Henry, Missouri(17). [Henry was married second 10 February 1942 in South Dakota to Geraldine Lois Nikerson.]

Vivian Jean7 Arner, born 17 February 1920(17) in Minnesota;  died 18 February 1994(17) at Fairlawn, Summit, Ohio (Death Certificate #025104, Volume 29773);  married to ______ Thompson, later divorced. She was a WWII veteran (U.S. Army SN: A-710379).

Shirley Mae7 Arner, born 23 July 1926 in Minnesota;  married to Dan Chambers.

Orra Ernest6 Arner, twin, born 16 May 1883;  died 18 March 1968 in Alberta Province, Canada;  married about 1906 possibly in Canada to Delina Samson (daughter of Alfred Samson and Obeline Morin) who was born 01 December 1887 in Corcoran, Hennepin, Minnesota and died 14 June 1952 in Canada. 1911 Canada Census: Orra Arner, page 14, visit 162/162, Trossachs village, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He later homesteaded government land in Alberta Province [Northeast part of Section 22, Township 08 North, Range 17 West, 2nd Meridian] and received a Patent (Book 460, page 316; Canadian Archives microfilm #C-6307). [NOTE: They also had several other children born after the 1911 census.] Known children:  Ralph Arner, born about March 1908;  Samuel Arner, born about April 1909;  Lucille Arner, born 04 July 1911, died 1962, married David Watson;  Lawrence A. Arner, born 25 October 1920, killed in action 06 February 1944 during WWII, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Arner Lake in east-central Saskatchewan (near the village of Creighton and the border with Manitoba) is named in his honor.

Orpha Maria6 Arner, twin, born 16 May 1883;  married 11 December 1902 in Manistee County (Book 3, page 214) to Fred Smith (son of Chauncey Smith and Sarah Cummings) who was born about 1880 in St. Clair County, Michigan.

Lula Viola6 Arner, born about September 1887 in Michigan;  died 14 March 1959 widowed aged 71 years at Warren, Trumbull, Ohio (Death Certificate #22467, Volume 15730);  married 1912-13 to Frank Milton Fiedler (son of William H. and Margaret Fiedler, both born in Pennsylvania) who was born 12 April 1879(40) in Ohio and apparently died before 1959. He was a farmer. She was a schoolteacher. He registered for the WWI Draft at Niles, Trumbull, Ohio [permanent address: Brookfield, Trumbull, Ohio; current residence: R.F.D. 67, Sharon, Pennsylvania (as of 12 September 1918)]. 1920 Census: Frank Fiedler, page 156, visit 102/102, Hubbard, Trumbull, Ohio. 1930 Census: Frank Fiedler, page 256, visit 077/079, Hubbard, Trumbull, Ohio. Known children:

Lawrence J.7 Fiedler, born 29 August 1914(17) in Pennsylvania (from death certificate) or Ohio (1930 census);  died 22 September 1995 in Trumbull County (Death Certificate #075921, Volume 30396), last residence at Sarasota, Sarasota, Florida(17).

Lillian Pearl7 Fiedler, born about 1915 in Pennsylvania (1920 census) or Ohio (1930 census);  died 16 January 1939 in Trumbull County (Death Certificate #7012);  unmarried.

Franklin W.7 Fiedler, born about 1916-17 in Ohio (1920 and 1930 censuses).

Ellsworth C.7 Fiedler, born 15 July 1918(17) in Pennsylvania (from death certificate) or Ohio (1920 and 1930 censuses);  died 12 April 1993(17) at Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio (Death Certificate #029261, Volume 29370).

Lucius Franklin6 Arner, born 11 May 1892;  died 06 February 1893.
