Photos of Arner gravestones at
St. John’s Church:
SUSANNA (KOENIG) ARNER, 1787-1866, (wife of Nicholas4 Arner).

8th upright stone in the row south of the pagoda.]

one found]
NOTE: I expected to find more Arner gravestones at
that church, but there may be more there. Many of the gravestones in the older
sections were installed flat on the ground, and many (possibly most) of them
have since sunk enough to be completely overgrown. I also saw dozens of stones
where only a five or six inch circle in the center of the stone is still
visible and the names can’t be seen; they will soon be gone also.
(That’s
something to think about if your own modern cemetery requires horizontal
plaques “to make it easier to mow”, as some do now.)
