History of St. John’s Towamensing Church.
The second church in what is now Carbon County.
Land for a church purchased 1798.
First church building erected 1799.
Current church building erected 1862.
The cemetery is also known as Old Towamensing Cemetery.
[NOTE: There is also a small St. John’s UCC Church in Palmerton but, right now, I don’t know whether or not it’s the successor church of the Reformed congregation at St. John’s Union Church.]
First Arner members: Johannes3 and Catharina Arner.
