James B.2 Arner (Patrick1), born 10 January 1855 in Wisconsin;  died 21 December 1904 at Ashton, Spink, South Dakota;  married 10 January 1883 in Walworth County, Wisconsin to Julia Ellen McCart (daughter of Freeman McCart and Frances M. Dunham) who was born 31 May 1866 in Wisconsin and died 27 December 1897 in Rock County, Wisconsin(22).

He may have been the founding partner of Fassett & Arner, proprietors of City Dray Line at Ashton, Spink, South Dakota (1909 Business Directory, external link); or possibly it was his son Arthur.

Arthur Charles3 Arner, born 26 November 1884(40);  died 15 May 1948 at Janesville, Rock, Wisconsin;  married 01 June 1910 at Ashton (Marriage Certificate #21860) to Alta Mae Jones (daughter of William Mark Jones and Dora Bartholomew) who was born 22 June 1891(17) in Spink County, South Dakota and died 21 June 1982 at Spokane, Spokane, Washington(17)(also Death Certificate #1982-016554), later divorced. He was the manager of a hardware store. He registered for the WWI Draft in Spink County. 1900 Census: Arthur C. Arner, page 224, visit 045/046, Rock, Rock, Wisconsin. 1920 Census: Arthur C. Arner, page 011, visit 006/006, Ashton (1st Ward), Spink, South Dakota. 1930 Census: Alta M. Arner (divorced, and children, with Otto Tabert), page 068, visit 046/046, Henderson, Cavalier, North Dakota. [She was married second after the 1930 census to Otto G. Tabert who was born 24 November 1893 in Minnesota and died 20 August 1981 at Spokane.] Known children, born in South Dakota:

Julia Irene4 Arner, born 19 April 1911(17);  died 28 January 1989 at Lead, Lawrence, South Dakota(17);  married 26 January 1929 in Spink County (Marriage Certificate #129495) to Horace Platte Palmer who was born 20 December 1903(17) in South Dakota and died 08 November 1996 at Lead(17).

Maxine A.4 Arner, born 17 May 1915(17);  died 29 July 2003(17) at Kennesaw, Cobb, Georgia;  married 24 December 1935 at Janesville to Garth E. Manz who was born 27 August 1908(17) and died 21 September 2001 at Janesville, Rock, Wisconsin(17). 1930 Census: Maxine Arner (with cousin Burwood E. Hiram A.4 Arner, born 12 September 1917(17);  died 03 February 1989 at Siloam Springs, Benton, Arkansas(17);  married to Marian H. Bean (daughter of Arthur N. Bean and Irene F. Warnes) who was born 11 September 1911(17) at Chicago, Cook, Illinois and died 03 February 1998 at Siloam Springs(17)[also obituary (“Marian Arner Woodin”) in Morning News of Northwest Arkansas, issue of 05 February 1998; (but she is listed in the SSDI as “Marian H. Arner”)]. He was a WWII veteran (Army SN: 39830769). [She was married second 20 October 1990 in Iowa to Clifford Cea Woodin (his third marriage).] She is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery at Siloam Springs (or possibly at Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion, Wright, Iowa). They had at least two children.

(First Lieutenant) Shirley J.4 Arner, born 02 December 1920(14)(17);  died 24 May 1987 at Sherrard, Mercer, Illinois(14)(17);  married first to Robert Klinger;  married second 20 April 1953 in Macomb County, Illinois to Charles Henry Schroeder (his second of three marriages)(son of Charles Schroeder and Agnes Sabina Knab) who was born 26 July 1926 at Bettendorf, Scott, Iowa. She was a WWII veteran (U.S. Army Air Corps)(14). She is buried at Rock Island National Cemetery at Moline, Rock Island, Illinois. She and Charles had three children.

Jennie Mae3 Arner, born 04 February 1886;  died 01 August 1963;  married to Frank Palmer. 1900 Census: Jennie Arner (with William Parr), page 033, visit 050/050, Wyoming, Iowa, Wisconsin. They had at least four children:  Mamie Palmer;  Roy Palmer;  Leona Palmer;  Fred Palmer.

Thomas James3 Arner, born 16 November 1887(40);  died 23 February 1950 at Tonopah, Nye, Nevada. He was a miner. He registered for the WWI Draft at Tonopah.

Myrtle Anna3 Arner, born 13 June 1889;  died 20 October 1939 possibly in Mississippi;  married about 1906 to Martin Blomberg who was born in Norway, later divorced. 1920 Census: Myrtle Blomberg (married but alone, and children), page 239, visit 229/235, Bond town, Stone, Mississippi. 1930 Census: Myrtle Blomberg (divorced), page 149, visit 258/295, Biloxi (1st Ward), Harrison, Mississippi.  Known children:

Nellie B.4 Blomberg, born 26 August 1907 in Mississippi;  married first to ______ Allen. 1930 Census: Nellie B. Allen (married but alone, with mother).

Howard4 Blomberg, born 02 February 1909 at Baltimore, Maryland;  married 11 November 1935 to Mary Winfield Skinner.

Clara Ethel3 Arner, born 01 August 1890;  married 01 June 1909 at Janesville, Rock, Wisconsin to William Wright who was born 08 February 1874(40) in Wisconsin. Millard who was born 02 October 1894(40) in Wisconsin and died 04 April 1933;  married third 12 February 1943 at Baltimore, Maryland to Byron Andrews who was born about 1889 in South Dakota and died about 1951.
