John W.4 Arner (probably Leonard3, HEINRICH2, Ulrich1), probably born 21 July 1815 [although his gravestone says 24 July 1814(14)] in Hempfield, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania;  died 22 October 1898(14) in Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory (now Blackburn, Jefferson, Oklahoma);  married 06 April 1843 in Union Parish, Louisiana to Rachel M. Parker who was born 27 July 1823(14) in Mississippi and died 16 July 1892(14) in the Chickasaw Nation (her gravestone). [Some info from researcher and descendant-in-law Waneta (McElroy) Arner (current e-mail not known).]

He was a farmer. On 01 May 1856, he bought government land in Albany, Hempstead (now Nevada), Arkansas (the patent). He bought land in Bowie County, Texas on 26 September 1863 (Volume 62-18, page 050, Texas General Land Office, Archives and Records Division, Austin, Texas). They moved to the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory [in what is now Blackburn, Jefferson, Oklahoma] by 1890.

Lessley (his second marriage) who was born about April 1858 in Missouri. He was a farmer. 1900 Census: William D. Her only child [NOTE: There was a J. T. Springfield, married, born about 1841, living next door to her brother-in-law John W. Delk in 1880, which may or may not mean anything. ]:

Springfield (from son Joseph’s Death Certificate)], born 27 December 1882(17) in Searcy County;  died 04 April 1968 at Coos Bay, Coos, Oregon(17)(also Death Certificate #4871);  married about 1910 to Leroy Dysart (son of Samuel Tatum Dysart and Sarah Elizabeth Howard) who was born about August 1874 in Pine Log, Bartow, Georgia. Her known child, born in Oklahoma:  Joseph Daniel Arner [later known as Joseph Daniel Lessley], born 09 October 1899 (although the SSDI says 1900(17) and the California State Death Index says 1901(36));  died 06 September 1980 at Blythe, Riverside, California(17)(36);  married about 1921 in Oklahoma to Allie Mae Newman who was born about 1901 in Oklahoma. Allen McClain who was born 1854-55 in Arkansas and died 02 April 1892 aged 37 years(14) at Ryan, Jefferson, Oklahoma. He is buried at Baldwin Cemetery near Ryan [NOTE, at bottom of page].

Oscar Miles6 Arner, born 28 January 1898(14)(17)(40);  died 27 March 1966(14) at Ringling, Jefferson, Oklahoma(17);  married 23 September 1921 in Jefferson County to Dora Baylor who was born 21 November 1896(14)(17) in Texas and died 18 July 1981(14) at Phoenix, Maricopa, Arizona(17). [Info from descendant Dave Arner.] He registered for the WWI Draft at Waurika, Jefferson, Oklahoma. He was an oil well worker. 1930 Census: Oscar Arner, page 166, visit 051/051, Wolf, Seminole, Oklahoma. They are buried at Little Cemetery (Section 11, row 20) in Econtuchka, Seminole, Oklahoma. They had three children who survived into adulthood. Known children:  Aubrey Dell Paul Arner, born about 1922, married to Mary ann Lorraine Sakry (daughter of Paul Edward Sakry and Monica Thomalla) who was born 1923;  Jack D. Arner, born about April 1926.

NOTE: Baldwin (aka Old Ryan) Cemetery gravestone inscriptions (16 marked graves, 03 unreadable; and at least 20 unidentified graves) were copied in 1937 by Warren D. Morse, and published in Volume 57, pages 193-197, #1230 of Indian-Pioneer History Collection, edited by Grant Foreman, Archives and Manuscripts Division, Oklahoma Historical Society. Info from Waneta M. Arner (current e-mail not known). Later gravestone transcriptions were also done in 1962 and in 2001.
