[He was the son of (Honorable) John Alfred McEntire (son of John Alexander McEntire and Elizabeth Wylie) who was born 28 February 1818 in Rutherford County, North Carolina; died 04 November 1893 in St. Joe, Searcy, Arkansas; married first 26 December 1839 in Buncombe County, North Carolina to Zarah Jane Gates (daughter of Silas Gates and Mary Fore) who was born 20 April 1812 in Buncombe County and died 07 May 1890 in St. Joe. They moved from North Carolina to Gilmer County, Georgia in the mid-1840s; then about 1851-52 to Marion County, Arkansas; then by 1860 to Tomahawk, Searcy, Arkansas. John Alfred McEntire served as a Judge in Searcy County in the 1880s.]
John W. C. McEntire homesteaded government land in Searcy County and received a patent 15 December 1882 (the patent).

NOTE: however, she is listed in the SSDI as “Julia Groves”.] She is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery at Uvalde (Venetian Garden Section, Block C, lot 7).
