From The Pennsylvania Gazette, issue of April 16, 1777:

Whitehall Township, March 29, 1777.

THIRTY DOLLARS Reward.

WAS STOLEN, out of the stable of the subscriber, living in Whitehall township, Northampton county, and state of Pennsylvania, in the night of the 24th instant, a black HORSE, and a black MARE; the horse is about 7 or 8 years old, 14 or 15 hands high, with a star in his forehead and a double mane, he goes very spry, has long hair on his feet up to his knees, and paces; the mare is 3 years old, 15 or 16 hands high, the mane hanging on the off side, she paces and trots; they are both shod, but not branded. Whoever takes up said horse, mare, and thief, and delivers them to Jacob Hiseler, Tavern keeper, in North Wales, or to the owner thereof, shall have the above reward; or for the horse and mare only Twenty Dollars, besides reasonable charges, paid by ELIZABETH ARNER.
