JACOB CHARLES ORNER (both parents born in New York), born 15 May 1865 in New York(8);  died 17 February 1941 in Santa Clara County, California(8);  married [first?] about 1900 at St. John’s, Newfoundland [now part of Canada] to Maggie Elizabeth Joyce who was born about November 1876 at St. John’s;  apparently married second before the 1930 census to Ella M. ______ (her second or later marriage) who was born about 1865 in Missouri.

He was a jeweler and a watchmaker. They apparently moved to New York about 1904. They moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1906 (from 1911 census), then back to the U.S. about 1921 (from 1930 census).

Frederick Orner, born 13 November 1900(6)(7)(8) at St. John’s;  died 22 July 1966(6) at Modesto, Stanislaus, California(7)(8);  married 1923-24 to Bertha Frances ______ who was born 09 July 1899(6)(7) in Canada(8) and died 02 July 1969(6) at Modesto(7)(8). He was a telephone repairer. 1930 U.S. Census: Frederick Orner, page 187, visit 028/029, Modesto (15th Precinct), Stanislaus, California. They are buried at Acacia Memorial Park Cemetery (Tier 114, graves 175 and 176) at Modesto. No children with them in 1930.

(Son), [Mrs. J. C. Orner’s stillborn male child, died or was buried 14 October 1901 in Section 6 of the General Protestant Cemetery at St. John’s].

Charles Hawson Orner, born 01 October 1904(7) in New York(8);  died 27 November 1986 at San Carlos, San Mateo, California(7)(8);  married about 1920 to Lillian Viola ______ who was born 02 September 1903(7) in Montana(8) and died 21 October 1978 at Redwood City, San Mateo, California(7)(8). He was an electrician. 1930 U.S. Census: Charles Orner, page 211, visit 005/176, San Francisco (E.D. 361), San Francisco, California. Known child:  Eileen Orner, born about 1920 in Montana.

Laura Ruth Gwendolyn Orner, born 27 April 1907(8) at Toronto, York, Ontario (Registration #003197);  died 18 October 1954 in Butte County, California(8);  married 1927-28 in California to Roy Arthur “Jack” Hayenga (son of Andrew Hayenga and Augustina Brandt) who was born 29 March 1904 in Minnesota(8) and died 10 March 1962 in San Francisco County, California(8). He was a truck driver. 1930 U.S. Census: Roy Hayenga, page 011, visit 302/303, Oakland (E.D. 157), Alameda, California. No children with them in 1930. [He was married second to Aletia Maebelle Burgess, and had at least one more child.]

George Albert Orner, born 12 March 1909(7)(8) at Toronto;  died 05 January 1988 at Chico, Butte, California(7)(8). He was a bookkeeper. 1930 U.S. Census: George Orner (single, with brother-in-law Roy Hayenga, just above), page 011, visit 302/303, Oakland (E.D. 157), Alameda, California.
