Jacob2 Urner (Ulrich1), born possibly 1694 in Alsace, France(B);  died about August-September 1744 in Hanover, Philadelphia (now Pottsgrove, Montgomery), Pennsylvania(F);  married to Ann ______ who died 1758 in Chester County, Pennsylvania(F).

Jacobus “Ormer” was taxed in Schuylkill (later Coventry) District, Chester, Pennsylvania in 1720(5). Jacob “Arner” owned or leased 100 acres in Hanover and paid quit-rent prior to 1734(C). In 1734, he was recorded as Jacob Ornar on a List of Landholders (external link), and as Jacob Arner on the List of Taxables (external link). His farm was about one mile northeast of present-day Pottstown borough.

The will of “Jacob Ourner of Hanover” (Philadelphia Will Book G, page 144), which was signed 07 January 1738/9 and proved 08 October 1744, mentions wife Ann and children Elizabeth and Martin. A codicil dated 31 July 1744 mentions “his last child a daughter…born after the time that his Testam’t Will was made”. [NOTE: On 12 March 1749 (Philadelphia Deed Book I-14, page 511), his son “Martin Orner of New Hanover” sold land adjoining that owned by Jacob Frick, which he may have inherited from his father.]

Their gravestones are in the Coventry Brethren Graveyard, although he may actually be buried at Sprogel’s Graveyard at Pottstown.
