(Reverend) Martin3 Urner (Jacob2, Ulrich1), born 04 September 1725(B) in Hanover, Philadelphia (now Pottsgrove, Montgomery), Pennsylvania;  died 18 May 1799(9) in Coventry (now North Coventry), Chester, Pennsylvania;  married 15 July 1751 to Barbara Switzer(D) (daughter of MATTHIAS SCHWEITZER, and sister of Ulrich Switzer who married Martin’s sister Hester3 Urner) who was born 03 April 1730 at Coventry and died 23 April 1794 at Coventry(9).

On 12 March 1749, “Martin Orner of New Hanover” sold 40 acres (property adjoining that owned by James Brooke and Jacob Frick [his brother-in-law] ) to Jacob Schanz, deed filed 02 August 1775 (Philadelphia Deed Book I-14, page 511).

They moved to Coventry by 1755, when he succeeded his uncle Martin Urner as the second preacher and bishop of the Coventry Church of the Brethren; he was ordained in 1756 and served at Coventry until his death(B). In 1759, he and the other executor of his uncle Martin’s will sold the Belwood farm in North Coventry to Jacob Switzer who then resold it back to him(A). He preached at the Pipe Creek, Beaver Dam and Monocacy congregations in Maryland where the Coventry congregation was active in establishing those churches. On 10 April 1761, he purchased a 30 acre tract of land in Frederick (now Carroll) County, Maryland which he named Martin’s Corner.

In 1772, the Coventry Church of the Brethren built their first actual church building on his uncle Martin’s old homestead; it was about one quarter of a mile from the existing graveyard(B). During the Revolutionary War, he was fined for feeding American soldiers who were posing as escaped British prisoners. “Martin Orner” was a taxpayer in Coventry in 1780(5).

His will (Chester Will Book K or 10, page 104; file #4713), which was signed 05 May 1798 and proved 18 June 1799, mentions eldest son Martin, youngest son Jonas, and daughters Mary Rinehart and Elizabeth Titloe.

They are buried at the Coventry Brethren Graveyard.

Elizabetha4 Urner, christened 30 September 1753 in New Hanover, Philadelphia (now Montgomery), Pennsylvania [mother recorded as “Elizabeth”](2);  married to Abraham Titlow (son of Henry Titlow) who died 1811 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. 1790 Census: Abram Ditlow, page 067, Coventry, Chester, Pennsylvania [also 1 male age under 16; 2 females total]. 1800 Census: Abram Ditlow, page 893, Coventry, Chester, Pennsylvania [also 1 male age 10-15; 1 female age under 10]. 1810 Census: Abraham Ditlow, page 397, Earle, Lancaster, Pennsylvania [also 1 male age 10-15; 1 female age 16-25]. 1820 Census: (she is probably the female over age 45 with son Joseph). Known child(F):

Joseph5 Titlow, born about 1797 in Pennsylvania;  married to Anna ______ who was born about 1803 in Pennsylvania. He was a farmer. 1820 Census: Joseph Titlow, page 214, Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. 1850 Census: Joseph Ditlow, page 218, visit 378/402, Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Known child:  Benjamin Titlow, born about 1849.
