Benjamin5 Urner (Jonas4, Martin3, Jacob2, Ulrich1), born 13 July 1795 in Coventry, Chester, Pennsylvania;  died 03 July 1857 at Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio;  married 24 October 1825 to Elizabeth Keyser who was born 09 September 1798(F) in Pennsylvania and died 01 April 1878 at Cincinnati (Cincinnati Daily Commercial, issue of 03 April 1878).

[She was the daughter of (Reverend) Peter Keyser and Catharine Clemens. Peter (who was baptized 1784 at age 17 by Rev. Martin Urner) was the second preacher at the Philadelphia Brethren Church, succeeding Alexander Mack, and was later pastor of the Germantown Church, serving for a total of sixty-three years; and he was also very active in public life. Her ancestry is in Levering Family History and Genealogy, John Levering, published by Levering Historical Association, Indianapolis, Indiana, 1897.]

They moved to Cincinnati immediately after their marriage in 1825. He was a wholesale grocer. He was one of the founders of the National Insurance Company, and served as its President for about twenty-five years. He was a Director of the Cincinnati Branch of the Bank of the United States in 1834. He was a Vice-President of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce from 1845 to 1848. He is probably the Benjamin Urner who bought land in Lafayette County, Wisconsin from the Mineral Point, Wisconsin Government Land Office on 05 January 1841 (the patent) and 01 January 1849 (the patent).

Peter Keyser6 Urner, born 09 December 1827;  died 04 November 1850 at Sacramento, Sacramento, California;  unmarried. He went to California during the Gold Rush of 1849. 1850 Mortality Schedules: Peter R. Urner, page 542, Sacramento city, Sacramento, California.

Henry Clay6 Urner, born 30 January 1830(20);  died 17 April 1908;  married 13 February 1872 at Manhattan, New York, New York to Maria Livingston (Harley) Foster (daughter of John Price Harley and Emily Kimball, and widow of ____ Foster) who was born 01 May 1841. [Her ancestry is in History of the Kimball Family, Leonard Allison Morrison, published by Damrell & Upham, Boston, Massachusetts, 1897.] He went to California during the Gold Rush of 1849, but returned to Cincinnati about 1853. He was Secretary, later President, of the National Insurance Company. He was a member of Fire Company #5 in Cincinnati. He became Secretary and Treasurer of the Little Miami Railroad Company. He served two terms as President of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. He served as chairman of Cincinnati’s relief committee during the great flood of 1884. He was U.S. Marshal of the Southern District of Ohio during President Grover Cleveland’s first term [1885-89]. He was married second 09 April 1904 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio to Mary L. Hills.]

Henry7 Urner, born 25 October 1876(17);  married 19 June 1901 to Anna Mary Lanier (possibly daughter of Isaac T. and Amanda Lanier) who was born about 1879 in Kentucky. He owned a funeral equipment manufacturing company. (Doctor) Martin Harley7 Urner, born 07 October 1879(14)(19)(also from military records) at Cincinnati(19);  died March 1963(14) in Virginia;  possibly married to Florence H. ______. He graduated from Harvard University. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during WWI. 1900 Census: Martin H. Urner, page 082A, line 48, Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts. 1910 Census: Martin H. Urner (single, with mother). 1920 Census: Martin H. Urner (single, with mother). They were living at Charlottesville, Albemarle, Virginia in 1942(19).

Benjamin6 Urner, born 09 September 1832;  died 10 May 1896 at Fanwood, Union, New Jersey;  married 08 August 1852 to Abbie Spring Arnold (daughter of George B. Arnold and Lydia Spring) who was born 22 June 1832 in Pennsylvania. He was President of the Urner Publishing Company in New York City, which he founded in 1858 and which is still in business [as Urner Barry Publications]. He was President of the New York Mercantile Exchange. He served as Alderman of Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey for several years. George Peter7 Urner, born 16 May 1856 at Brooklyn, Kings, New York;  died about 1899 at Big Timber, Park (now Sweet Grass), Montana;  married 05 January 1892 in Montana to Lois Gibbons who was born about January 1875 in Missouri. He was a surveyor for the Northern Pacific Railroad; he moved to Montana by 1881. Later he was a lumber merchant. He bought government land in Park (now Sweet Grass) County on 15 July 1889 (reference). [She was married second 17 December 1899 in Sweet Grass County to Charles R. Gates. 1900 Census: Charles R. Frank Gordon7 Urner, born 30 September 1858 at New York City;  married 14 January 1880 to Clara Cavan Doe (daughter of Charles L. and Elizabeth Doe) who was born about August 1857 in New York and apparently died before the 1920 census. Known children, born at Fanwood:  Frank Edward Urner, born 1912, died 22 March 2007 at Gettysburg, Adams, Pennsylvania, married 1936-37 to Virginia ______, he graduated from Rutgers University in 1934 with a degree in agriculture, he was a market analyst for Urner Barry Publications, later he was an antique dealer, he was a WWII veteran (Army SN: 32925106), they had at least three children;  Charlotte Urner, born 23 September 1914(14), died 13 November 2003 at Eustis, Lake, Florida(14), married ______ Pamplin.

Charles Anderson8 Urner, born 29 March 1882(17);  married about 1908-09 to Margaret C. ______ who was born about 1882 in New Jersey. Benjamin J.7 Urner, born 23 April 1862 at New York City;  died 12 January 1928 at San Diego, San Diego, California;  married after the 1900 census to Marie Bourke (daughter of Lactence T. Bourke and Maria Page, both born in Quebec, Canada) who was born 08 May 1875 in Canada(15) and died 02 April 1946 in San Diego County, California(15). He was a merchant. He was President of the Melville Mercantile Company at Melville, Park (now Sweet Grass), Montana. He served as postmaster at Melville. Edward Hall6 Urner, born 13 August 1834;  died 25 July 1836 at Cincinnati;  buried at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Nathan Dane6 Urner, twin, born 12 January 1839;  died 19 February 1893 in New York City (Death Certificate #1893-6110);  married first 24 February 1866 to Anne Rizer(F);  married second after the 1880 census to Mary Parrish who was born about 1855 in Massachusetts. He was City Editor of the New York Tribune. He was the author of eleven books that can be found in the Library of Congress. 1860 Census: Nathan D. Urner (with brother Benjamin, above). 1880 Census: Nathan Urner, page 438, visit 038/147, New York (9th Ward), New York, New York. He is buried at Greenwood Cemetery. They had no children.
