Hester3 Urner (Jacob2, Ulrich1), born 20 September 1740(9) in Hanover, Philadelphia (now Pottsgrove, Montgomery), Pennsylvania;  died 24 March 1813(9) in Coventry, Chester, Pennsylvania;  married to Ulrich Switzer who was born 26 August 1731(9) probably in Pennsylvania and died 26 August 1823(9) in Coventry.

[He was the son of Matthias Schweitzer and was a brother of Barbara Switzer who married Hester’s brother Martin Urner. Matthias came to America on the ship Friendship which arrived at Philadelphia on 16 October 1727. The will of Matthias Switzer of Coventry (Chester Will Book 8, page 398), which was signed 08 May 1773 and proved 02 November 1789, mentions “my 6 children”: oldest son Jacob, second son Ulrick, Matthias, Rudolph, Brasbra and Elizabeth; and “my grandchildren by daughter Catherine” (apparently deceased); Executors son Jacob and Henry Tasher; Witnesses Jacob Light and Thomas Hockley. NOTE: There was a Johannes Switzer already in Coventry, since at least 1720 (Hance Swisher, taxable), who may or may not have been related.]

Ulrich was a taxpayer in Coventry by 1767(5). “Esther Switzer nee Urner” is on the list of members of the Coventry Church of the Brethren in 1770(G), but Ulrich is not; apparently he belonged to a different church, or possibly had just not yet been baptized in 1770.

1800 Census: Ulrich Switzer, page 898, Coventry, Chester, Pennsylvania.

Ulrich’s will (Chester Will Book 15, page 10), which was signed 22 August and proved 04 November 1823, mentions: 3 sons Jacob, Owen and Israel, 4 daughters Salome, Elizabeth, Mary and Hannah, daughter Esther and her 5 children John, Elizabeth, Esther, David and Owen Sidle, and Executor son-in-law Jacob Kime of East Nantmel. Letters of Administration to Abraham Rinehart because Jacob Kime, the Executor, died before the estate was settled.
